The fourth running of the annual HANDLEBAR HEROS at the Rockhampton Showgrounds was held over the weekend and the racing was on fire despite the chilly temperatures!
Headlining the strong field of 16 riders for the 500cc main event was none other than Jason Crump who returned for his 4th time.
The new track surface was prepared perfectly by CQ Civil's, Dave Goffage and MEM's, Paul Waardyk and provided plenty of dirt out wide and maximum passing opportunities for the riders.
Penti-M Engineering Australia again provided the world-class, super quick starting tapes which are powered by nitrogen.
In what is the only 'home' race meeting of the year for the large contingent of local Rockhampton riders, the huge crowd were entertained all night with some thrilling on track action.
I bagged 4 x heat wins and a win in Semi Final #1 and progressed straight through to the A Final alongside Jason Crump, Hugh Skidmore and Ryan Douglas. The 4 lap final on the huge 440m offset circular track was a true testament to the name of the event, the "HANDLEBAR HEROS" as the four finalists battled it out for the checkered flag and the big prize money.
1st Ryan Douglas
2nd Zane Keleher
3rd Jason Crump
4th Hugh Skidmore
