It can now be confirmed with great reluctance and disappointment that professional league speedway in the UK has been cancelled for 2020. This news comes following the announcements made by Prime Minister Boris Johnson last Friday which stated October as the target date for crowds to return to sporting stadia. For me personally it’s devastating, as I chose to remain in the UK in March on the high likelihood that the season would commence. I can only look at the positives of choosing to stay and maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. I’ve been extremely busy off track and have set myself up ready to come out all guns blazing in 2021.
I am still planning the remainder of 2020 at present. It’s a costly exercise to return back to Australia straight away so I am currently working on some other options. The good news is, UK teams have vowed to run the same teams in 2021 so it looks certain I’ll be get the chance to don the skull and crossbones at Poole Speedway, in 8 months time.
I’ll keep you all updated with any new developments for racing this year and when I am due to travel home.
Thanks for sticking by me in these challenging times, I look forward to more good times in 2021 together.
