2019 Australian Speedway Championships

It was a very valuable experience racing at such an elite level against two former World Champions and the current and past Australian Champions from the last few years. As the only domestic based rider to be seeded into the Championship, I knew it would be tough.

The intensity and pace of the Australian Championships has to be seen to be believed and I am very proud to have recorded some fantastic results in such a high caliber championship.

Although there was some bad luck for myself with an engine failure, broken chain, tape exclusion and an ignition failure, I can still take a huge list of positives from the series. Some of the highlights include:

- leading the reigning and new Australian Champions for 2 laps

- leading the former World Champions at more than one race track

- out-gating the international based riders

- scoring points at all 5 rounds

- winning my first ever Australian Championship heat at Round 4, Albury/Wodonga

I finished the series in 14th position with a total of 17 points. Many riders fail to score any points in their first attempt at National glory so to achieve 17 is a great result.

I'm hopeful that I have made a good impression with the overseas team managers and selectors and hope I can make my international debut in the coming months.

Thank you to everyone who sent me messages of support and followed the series!

A massive thank you to the local businesses that generously helped make the 6500km journey possible.
