The 2018 Queensland 500cc Solo Bike Title returned to North QLD's premier race track at Pioneer Park this weekend.
In what was the deepest lineup in many years, it would be anyone's guess as to who would be crowned champion this year.
With only the top 4 from 2017 seeded into this years event, there were 12 spots up for grabs via the Friday night qualifier. 26 riders from QLD and NSW battled it out for the all important main event positions.
The weekend started strong for me with 11 out of 12 points from the Qualifying event.
The main event kicked off strongly also with 11 points from 5 rides and the 2nd gate pick for Semi #2. I managed to win the semi and had 2nd gate pick for the A Final.
Track conditions didn't create many passing opportunities although the racing was still fiercely close and competitive and I managed to finish 3rd against a quality internationally experienced lineup and was the first official "QUEENSLANDER" to the checkers.
1st Hugh Skidmore (NSW)
2nd Mason Campton (NSW)
3rd Zane Keleher (QLD)
4th Josh Grajczonek (QLD)
